Burwell meet your new Head Chef 😊
A guests’ first encounter with a dish should answer one simple question: ‘Would I eat it again?’
Joseph Zanaty grew up in Greece and studied as a pastry chef from a young age. He worked in his parents pastry shop but soon found a passion for food and moved away from the art of desserts. He travelled a lot and held leadership roles in many famous Greek kitchens next to renowned chefs.
He came to England in 2013 to work in Cambridge’s famed Greek restaurant, honing his culinary skills through the past few years at various celebrated restaurants, he is now part of Calvin Hollands award winning chefs team at the White Pheasant, just up the road in Fordham.
His favourite Greek words are philoxenia and meraki. Philoxenia means hospitality and meraki means doing something with all your heart. Thus, his food narrates stories from all his travels, in numerous countries. As a person he is extremely affable, yet his cooking is bold and full of character, so that even the simplest sounding dishes are packed with flavour.
If you'd like to come along & sample some of Josephs culinary delights our restaurant will be open from next Saturday 21st September & reservations can be made on 01638 743970
